Glaucoma Care
Glaucoma is a serious eye disease that damages the optic nerve. If untreated, it can result in permanent blindness. It is the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 60. Because glaucoma has no obvious symptoms, it can affect vision for years before being detected. Thankfully, with early detection and preventive treatment, we are able to prevent progression and preserve vision. At Orangeburg Eye Center, our physicians specialize in a broad array of glaucoma treatments which we tailor to each patient’s specific needs.
Laser Trabeculoplasty

For many patients, a simple - incisionless - in office treatment is the best option for glaucoma control. This method uses light energy to remodel the drainage canal of the eye to reduce eye pressure and protect the optic nerve. Laser trabeculoplasty is a particularly good option for patients who wish to avoid daily drops.
Intracameral Durysta Implant

Recent developments have allowed for sustained release glaucoma medication treatment which allows many patients to achieve drop independence with better eye pressure control. We are proud to offer this cutting edge treatment either as a stand-alone procedure or at the time of cataract surgery
Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery

For patients with glaucoma, we are able utilize specialized surgical techniques at the time of cataract surgery to provide additional glaucoma protection. Through the use of glaucoma microstents and micro-goniotomy devices we can help preserve vision with a minimally invasive approach.
